SCHALLER, J.

The petitioner, Lawrence Patterson, appeals from the dismissal of his petition for a writ of habeas corpus. The habeas court dismissed the petition on the ground that it lacked subject matter jurisdiction because the petitioner had no cognizable liberty interest at stake. Following its dismissal, the court granted the petition for certification to appeal to this court. On appeal, the petitioner claims that the court improperly dismissed the petition for lack of subject matter jurisdiction.
