The defendant, Derek McElveen, appeals from the judgment of the trial court revoking his probation pursuant to General Statutes (Rev. to 1999) § 53a-32*2001 and sentencing him to serve six months of a pre*201viously suspended one year sentence on an underlying criminal conviction. The dispositive issue on appeal is whether the defendant’s claim is moot. That issue requires that we resolve two questions.
