Ferguson, Judge:

Tried by a special court-martial convened at Itazuke Air Force Base, Japan, the accused pleaded guilty to charges of failure to repair to his appointed place of duty and being drunk in uniform in a public place, in violation, respectively, of Uniform Code of Military Justice, Articles 86 and 134,10 USC §§ 886, 934. Found guilty, he was sentenced to bad-conduct discharge, confinement at hard labor for four months, and reduction to airman basic. Intermediate appellate authorities affirmed, and we granted accused’s petition for review, specifying the following…
