PALMER, J.
In this certified appeal, the plaintiff, Private Healthcare Systems, Inc. (Healthcare), appeals from the judgment of the Appellate Court, which reversed the judgment of the trial court vacating an arbitration award that reinstated the defendant, Albert J. Torres, a surgeon, to the roster of Healthcare’s preferred provider network (provider network). See Private Healthcare Systems, Inc. v. Torres, 84 Conn. App. 826, 840, 855 A.2d 987 (2004). Following our granting of certification but prior to oral argument, however, Torres voluntarily resigned from the provider network.…
