GRUENDEL, J.

The respondent, William D., appeals from the order of the trial court granting the motion of the petitioner, the commissioner of children and families (commissioner), to extend the respondent’s delinquency commitment by twelve months pursuant to General Statutes § 46b-141 (b). On appeal, the respondent claims that the court improperly concluded that he was a child for purposes of the statute and therefore found that it had jurisdiction to extend his commitment. We affirm the judgment of the trial court.
