Over a relatively short period, Magnum Hunter Resources Corporation (“Magnum Hunter”) significantly expanded its operations and added to its accounting complexity. Commencing in early 2012 — and proceeding in a manner akin to “death by a thousand cuts” — it disclosed certain control deficiencies, accounting issues, certain fixes, more deficiencies and accounting issues, more fixes, and so on.
