I. Introduction

This is an interlocutory appeal from the trial court, pursuant to C.A.R,. 4.1 and section 16-12-102(2), C.RS. (2007). The People challenge the trial court's order suppressing statements made by the defendant Sebet Redgebol during a custodial interrogation. The trial court suppressed the statements because Redgebol, a recent Sudanese refugee to the United States, did not knowingly and intelligently waive his rights under Miranda v.
