Faced with conflicting versions of how the death of Airman Third Class Marvin E. Howard occurred, a general court-martial convened at Grand Forks Air Force Base, North Dakota, found the accused guilty of unpremeditated murder, in violation of Uniform Code of Military Justice, Article 118, 10 USC § 918, as lesser included in the original charge of a premeditated slaying, and sentenced him to dishonorable discharge, forfeiture of all pay and allowances, confinement at hard labor for twenty-five years, and reduction to Airman Basic.
