MEYER, Justice.

The sole question before this Court is whether the Court of Appeals erred in holding under the particular facts of this case that the date for valuation of respondents’ property for purposes of determining just compensation is the date of the trial rather than the date on which the proceeding was commenced by the filing of the petition to condemn respondents’ property. We conclude that the proper date for the valuation of respondents’ property is the date of the filing of the petition of condemnation, reverse the decision of the Court of Appeals and reinstate the judgment of…
