SULLIVAN, Chief Judge:

During May of 1988, appellant was tried by a general court-martial composed of a military judge sitting alone at Fort Carson, Colorado. Contrary to his pleas, he was found guilty of conspiracy to distribute cocaine and distribution of cocaine, in violation of Articles 81 and 112a, Uniform Code of Military Justice, 10 USC §§ 881 and 912a, respectively. He was sentenced to a dishonorable discharge, confinement for 4 *342years, and reduction to pay grade E-1.
