The dispositive issue in this appeal is whether the trial court properly concluded that the formula used by the defendant, May Department Stores Company, for calculating a salesperson’s commission does not violate the prohibition of General Statutes §§ 31-T1e1 and 31-73 (b)2 against an employer deducting any money from its employees’ wages. The plaintiff salespersons claim that the trial court improperly granted the defendant’s motion for summary judgment because the court incorrectly interpreted the statutes as purely remedial in nature.
