In March 2009, the Director of the Office of Lawyers Professional Responsibility (Director) served and filed a petition for disciplinary action against respondent Thomas Lyons, Jr. The Director alleged that Lyons’ failure to disclose his client’s death during settlement negotiations and false and misleading statements made to opposing counsel and to the Director about the client’s death constituted unprofessional conduct warranting public discipline.
