This action was brought to foreclose a mortgage given by the decedent in her lifetime and by the other defendants.
The important facts are these: Allen Wood, who was then the husband of the intestate Mary Wood, in 1888 gave to plaintiff, to secure an indebtedness due from himself to plaintiff, his promissory note and what purported to be a mortgage upon land in which he had no estate, title, or interest of any kind or character, and which was then and has ever since been owned and occupied by the defendants Mary E.
