DRANGINIS, J.
The defendant, Tarrance Lawrence, appeals1 from the judgment of the trial court dismissing his motion to correct an illegal sentence, filed pursuant to Practice Book § 43-22. On appeal, the defendant claims that the court improperly concluded that it *767lacked jurisdiction to consider the motion. We disagree and, accordingly, affirm the judgment of the trial court.2
