SANDSTROM, Justice.

[¶ 1] Roland C. Flattum-Riemers appealed from a district court order affirming a judicial referee’s dismissal of his application for a domestic violence protection order under N.D.C.C. ch. 14-07.1. Je-nese A. Peters-Riemers cross-appealed from the order, but subsequently withdrew the cross-appeal. We conclude the referee did not err in considering documents filed less than 24 hours before the hearing or in denying Flattum-Riemers’ motion for a continuance.
