This is a proceeding in eminent domain to acquire,- for purposes of a state highway, several parcels of real property constituting a narrow strip running along the ocean coast of San Mateo County and embracing within it a railroad right of way owned by the Ocean Shore Railroad, Inc., the respondent here. The action is brought against thirty-two known and several fictitiously named defendants, each of whom, it is alleged, claim some interest in one or more of the parcels of land.
