—Judgment, Supreme Court, Bronx County (Gerald Sheindlin, J.), rendered November 2, 1998, convicting defendant, after a jury trial, of manslaughter in the first degree, and sentencing him, as a second violent felony offender, to a term of 25 years, unanimously affirmed.

The court’s Allen charge was not coercive. The absence of coercion is established by the language of the charge, which, read as a whole, was clearly neutral and balanced (compare, People v Perez, 164 AD2d 839, affd 77 NY2d 928, with People v Demery, 60 AD2d 606) and by the fact that the jury took nearly five hours to reach a…
