Plaintiffs appeal from a decision of the circuit court denying their application for mandamus. The plaintiffs were dismissed from their positions as Calhoun County deputy sheriffs. Their complaint alleged that they were discharged as a result of a polygraph examination in violation of MCL 338.1726(2); MSA 18.186(26)(2).

Plaintiffs claim that they had no enforceable right to challenge their discharges, as they were probationary employees. They reason that under the collective bargaining agreement, the union would not process grievances of probationary employees.
