The defendant appeals from the judg-

ment of conviction, after a jury trial, of robbery in the first degree in violation of General Statutes § 53a-134 (a) (4),1 carrying a pistol without a permit in violation of General Statutes § 29-35,2 and criminal possession of a firearm in violation of General Statutes § 53a-217 (a).3 On appeal, the defendant claims that the trial court improperly (1) denied his request for a continuance to obtain new counsel, (2) denied his motion to set aside the verdict of guilty of carrying a pistol without a permit and criminal possession of a firearm because the…
