SULLIVAN, Chief Judge:

In July of 1989, appellant was tried by a general court-martial convened by the Commander, 1st Marine Division (Rein), FMF at Camp Pendleton, California. Pursuant to *463his pleas, appellant was found guilty of two unauthorized absences (one for 2 days; the other for 68 days); wrongful use of marijuana, methamphetamine, and cocaine on numerous occasions (one specification each); and distribution of methamphetamine, in violation of Articles 86 and 112a, Uniform Code of Military Justice, 10 USC §§ 886 and 912a, respectively.
