Edgar LaPerriere sued the International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (“UAW”), alleging the UAW failed to represent him fairly in his discharge grievance against his employer, Chrysler Corporation (“Chrysler”). A jury returned a verdict in favor of LaPerriere in the amount of $165,573. The UAW appeals the judgment in favor of LaPerriere and the court’s denial of its motion for judgment as a matter of law or in the alternative for a new trial relating to damages.
