This action was instituted by the plaintiffs against the defendant to recover damages for the unlawful conversion of certain wheat, alleged to have been taken from the possession of one Nie Zeimit, being then covered by a chattel mortgage executed by Zeimit to the plaintiffs, filed for record October 17, 1919, as security for the payment of a promissory note for $2,520, and of which wheat plaintiffs alleged the right of possession.
