SANDSTROM, Justice.
In this case, we address the responsibility of a governmental entity to pay for prisoner medical care. After a prisoner attempted suicide in the Grand Forks County Jail, two hospitals provided medical care. In separate suits, the hospitals sued Grand Forks County for the cost of the medical care. In both cases, the district court held the County re-' sponsible for payment of the medical bills. The district court denied prejudgment interest.
