Defendant-appellant The Hawaiian Insurance & Guaranty Company, Ltd. (HIG) appeals the trial court’s orders granting plaintiff-appellee Karen Methven-Abreu’s (Abreu) motion for summary judgment and denying HIG’s cross motion for summary judgment. Briefly stated, Abreu filed claims for no-fault and uninsured motorist benefits as a result of injuries she sustained in a one-car accident. HIG denied coverage based on certain exclusions contained in both the no-fault and uninsured motorist provisions of the policy at issue. Abreu filed this action seeking a…
