Plaintiff-appellant Sandra Gibson appeals from a summary judgment rendered in the Clark County Court of Common Pleas in favor of defendant-appellee State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company (“State Farm”).

The following facts are undisputed. On October 28, 1992, Fred Jagger, Gibson’s father, was struck by a motor vehicle operated by Sandra Ehrman. Fred Jagger, who suffered serious injuries requiring surgery and hospitalization, died on January 15, 1993.
