MONTEMURO, J.:
¶ 1 The parties to this medical malpractice action have cross-appealed from a judgment for $2,498,889 in favor of Appellants, plaintiffs below.
¶ 2 On May 29, 1998, Appellant Ashley Sonlin was born &h weeks prematurely in Appellee hospital. Following the placement of an umbilical catheter to monitor blood oxygen levels,1 the child developed a thrombosis in her left leg, and after three days was transferred to Children’s Hospital.
