Claimant, a “car dropper” in the employ of defendant was injured on March 30, 1938. In closing the doors of a railroad car by means of a wrench he suffered a severe sprain of the lower back in the region of the lumbar vertebrae. He was treated by a local physician and a cast was applied to the back and later a brace was substituted. Payments for total disability were made under an open agreement until October 10, 1938 except for the period of about six weeks when claimant performed some light work and the agreement was modified accordingly.
