The petitioner in this proceeding under article 78 of the Civil Practice Act applies for an order against the police commissioner of the City of New York directing him to appoint the petitioner a probationary patrolman in the police department.
The petitioner is an honorably discharged veteran who served in the military forces of the United States in World War II. He attained the rank of sergeant in the military police.
