At a special election held November 2, 1954, more than two-thirds of the qualified voters of the county of San Diego approved a proposition to incur a bonded indebtedness in the principal sum of $8,400,000 for the purpose of constructing, furnishing and equipping buildings to provide quarters for superior and municipal courts, the county jail and county departments and officials.
