The Workers’ Compensation Board upheld SAIF’s denial of claimant’s request for compensation. On review, claimant argues that substantial evidence does not support a critical factual finding that the board made. We reverse and remand.

On February 21, 1999, claimant injured his lower back lifting a buffer machine. The next day, he sought treatment at a hospital emergency room. Claimant’s injury was diagnosed as an L5-S1 disc herniation with possible herniation at the L4-5 level. SAIF accepted a claim for a disabling L5-S1 disc herniation, and a laminotomy and discectomy were performed…
