McGHEE, Justice.

The plaintiff shipped nine boxes of household goods from Harlingen, Texas, to Deming, New Mexico, under the terms of the uniform bill of lading prescribed by the Interstate Commerce Commission to govern interstate shipments.. The customary route for the shipment was via the line of the Texas & New Orleans Railroad Company from Harlingen to San Antonio, thence to El Paso, Texas, and from El Paso to Deming, New Mexico, via either the rail line of the Southern Pacific Company, or its affiliated subsidiary, Pacific Motor Trucking Company.
