BACKGROUND
Plaintiffs commenced this class action against Curtiss-Wright Corporation (“Curtiss-Wright”) in December 1989 under section 502 of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974, as amended, 29 U.S.C. § 1132 (“ERISA”) and Section 301 of the Labor Management Relations Act, 29 U.S.C. § 185 (“LMRA”).. Plaintiffs. are a class of retired Curtiss-Wright employees who were represented by the United Steelworkers of America (“United Steelworkers”).
