Walter R. Medycki was insured by an automobile liability insurance policy issued by appellant, Harleysville Mutual Insurance Company. Among the coverages afforded by the policy was protection against uninsured motorists.

*69On October 11, 1967, Medyeki put appellant on notice of an accident in which he liad been involved on March 18, 1966, some seventeen months earlier, and advised that he was making a claim under the uninsured motorists coverage.
