O’CONNELL, J.

The genesis of this appeal is the revocation by the defendant state board of education (board) of the plaintiffs secondary school teaching certificate. The plaintiff appealed to the trial court from the board’s decision pursuant to General Statutes § 4-183 of the Uniform Administrative Procedure Act (UAPA). Following a hearing, on the record, the trial *478court dismissed the plaintiffs appeal, whereupon the plaintiff appealed to this court pursuant to General Statutes § 4-184.
