This is' an application for a writ of mandate to compel the defendant, as auditor of the city and county of San Francisco, to audit and allow in favor of the petitioner certain demands against the city and county.

The petitioner is a stenographer in the department of electricity of the city and county, and as such is entitled to a monthly salary of ninety dollars. He served for the months of April and May, 1903, and thereafter for his salary for each of said months he presented to the auditor written demands as required by the charter, and requested that they be audited and allowed in his…
