The petitioner was convicted in the recorder’s court of collecting from a resident of Pomona more than one dollar and fifty cents per thousand feet for gas, contrary to the provisions of a municipal ordinance establishing that as the maximum rate, and declaring it a misdemeanor to collect or receive more. He seeks in this proceeding, by certiorari, a review of the judgment of fine and imprisonment, and the sole question to be determined is whether the recorder’s court exceeded its jurisdiction.
