On January 23, 1963, plaintiffs and appellees, people of the State of Michigan by the attorney general on behalf of the State board of education, filed a petition in eminent domain pursuant to PA 1911, No 236 (CL 1948, §§213.1-213.4 [Stat Ann 1958 Rev §§ 8.1-8.4]), to acquire six parcels of land for the construction of a building or buildings on the Northern Michigan University campus.
