The defendants Harrison Scott Higgins and Linda Plank Higgins (defendants)1 appealed to the Appellate Court from the judgment of the trial court rendered in favor of the plaintiff, Michael Meadows, doing business as Paper Pro, ordering strict foreclosure of his mechanic’s lien. The defendants claimed that the trial court had improperly: (1) determined that the Home Improvement Act (act),2 did not apply to the transaction between the plaintiff and the defendants; and (2) awarded attorney’s fees to the plaintiff pursuant to General Statutes § 52-249, which provides for such fees…
