LAVERY, J.
The defendant, Gary Oliver, appeals from the judgment of conviction, rendered after a jury trial, of robbery in the first degree in violation of General Statutes § 53a-134 (a) (2),1 and larceny in the second degree in violation of General Statutes § 53a-123 (a) (3).2 On appeal, the defendant claims that the trial court improperly (1) refused to instruct the jury that it could draw an adverse inference from the state’s failure to call a witness and (2) allowed the introduction of prejudicial evidence of previous misconduct on the part of the defendant.
