The accused pleaded guilty at a trial by Navy special court-martial1 on a charge and specification alleging unauthorized absence in violation of Article 86 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, 50 USC § 680. After the findings, the trial counsel introduced in evidence records of two prior convictions. Defense offered no objection. The court sentenced the accused to a bad-conduct discharge, confinement at hard labor for six months, and partial forfeiture of pay for six months.
