SULLIVAN, Judge:

In May of 1992, appellant was tried by a general court-martial composed of a military judge sitting alone at Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina. Contrary to his pleas, appellant was found guilty of attempted conspiracy to steal certain military pay entitlements; attempted signing of a false official statement (4 specifications); and forgery of his squadron section commander’s signature on an official government form, in violation of Articles 80 and 123, Uniform Code of Military Justice, 10 USC §§ 880 and 923, respectively.
