EVERETT, Chief Judge:

A special court-martial composed of a military judge alone tried and convicted appellant, notwithstanding his pleas, of possession of “an unknown quantity of” heroin, in violation of Article 134, Uniform Code of Military Justice, 10 U.S.C. § 934. Thereupon, the court sentenced appellant to a bad-conduct discharge, confinement at hard labor for 3 months, forfeiture of $240 pay per *140month for 5 months, and reduction to the lowest enlisted grade.
