EVERETT, Chief Judge:

A general court-martial composed of officer and enlisted members tried appellant at Fort Ord, California, on a charge that on May 22, 1982, he murdered his son, Angel Cordero, Jr., in violation of Article 118, Uniform Code of Military Justice, 10 U.S.C. § 918. Appellant pleaded not guilty, but he was convicted of the lesser-included offense of involuntary manslaughter by culpable negligence, in violation of Article 119, UCMJ, 10 U.S.C. § 919.
