Appellant’s contract for doing the work and furnishing the material, in altering and repairing the building, was with the lessee, or lessees, of the premises. Therefore, whatever lien he had under the contract extended to the leasehold interest only. Section 1 of the Lien Law provides, “that any person who shall by contract ® * with the owner of any lot or piece of land, furnish labor or materials * * * in building, altering, repairing or ornamenting any house, or other building or appurtenance thereto, on such lot * * * shall have a lien upon the whole of such tract of land or lot, and upon…
