This suit was instituted in the court below by the appellee to recover damages for personal injuries sustained by him in October of 1906, while employed by the appellants. The appellants were at that time a partnership in the business of contracting as stevedores, and as such employed a large number of men—among them, the appellee—who were engaged in loading an outgoing steamer with goods and merchandise.
