Petitioner, Della Murphy, instituted this proceeding to secure the release of one John H. Murphy, who was convicted of a misdemeanor in violating Ordinance No. 1857 (New Series) of the city and county of San Francisco by operating an automobile in a careless and reckless manner upon a street in the said city and county, and who was sentenced to imprisonment in the county jail for fifty days.
