Plaintiff, Paul E. McBride, appeals from a judgment of nonsuit in an action to recover damages for personal injuries which resulted when he fell while alighting from the steps of one of the defendants’ railroad cars.

Plaintiff was a fare-paying passenger in a Pullman car on defendant railroad’s Grand Canyon line which originated at Los Angeles and was eastbound. Plaintiff, who had undergone a knee operation and was using crutches, boarded the train at Fullerton to go to Needles, California.
