In this patent case, plaintiffs Hitkansut LLC and Acceledyne Technologies, Ltd., LLC (collectively, “Hitkansut”) allege that the United States, through Oak Ridge National Laboratory (“Oak Ridge” or “the government”), has infringed upon claims 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, 11, and 14 of its patent for a materials processing method, U.S. Patent No. 7,175,722 (“the ’722 patent”), and thus is liable for damages under 28 U.S.C. § 1498(a).
