The plaintiff, Joan E. McNulty,1 appeals, following our grant of certification, from the judgment of the Appellate Court reversing the judgment of the trial court. The trial court had ordered a modification in alimony payments to be made to the plaintiff by the defendant, Thomas J. Gay, based in part on the court’s determination that capital gains realized by the plaintiff from the sale of assets constituted income.
