ERVIN, Circuit Judge:

Dennis Deans, who was injured while working as a conductor for defendant CSX Transportation, Inc. (“CSX”), appeals the district court’s grant of summary judgment against him on his claims under the Federal Safety Appliances Act (“FSAA”), 49 U.S.C. § 20301 et seq., and the Federal Employers’ Liability Act (“FELA”), 45 U.S.C. § 51 et seq.
